Boy George and Fatboy: DJs back in action
Boy George and Brighton’s Fatboy Slim have more in common than you first might think. Both were pop stars of the 80’sĀ (Culture Club and The Housemartins), both turned international house DJs and both are now back in action.
Fatboy is working with Talking Heads supremo David Byrne, and Boy George is touring again, and yes he’s coming to Brighton.
Whether the two will meet, who knows? Perhaps with a pint by the sea, or over a cocktail in one of the city’s swish bars.
Either way the two are back on form, so keep your ears pinned back: sweet soul and sonic delights are sure to follow.
Boy George performs live at the Brighton Dome on April 20th.

Well, along with Brighton sunshine – and it’s here – comes the temptation to take a dip. Now, I know you’re thinkingĀ ”you must be mad to dip even your toes in the water”. But let’s not forget about Brighton’s swimming pools, which are great for dedicated ‘up and downers’, as well as for children and families.

Brighton Beach
The King Alfred Centre is about as 80’s retro as the town’s student community, but is still a great resource. Let’s face it, if the sun fails us, at least we can step back off the beach, put our cossies on, and get in for a bit.
More modern is the Price Regent. And it’s next to the Jubilee Library (are we obsessed about royalty, or what?). If you get bored easily by the lanes just dry off, grab a book, wander through the North Laines, and enjoy the great Easter weather.
Dedicated swimmers are donning their Speedos for a mammoth charity swimathon on April 18th, take a look for further info.

Popping out for some food this Saturday, I was lucky to get into the Fiery Food Festival, which is taking took place on Hove lawns. “The best things in life are free,” so the saying goes. Rubbish! Whoever came up with these words of wisdom obviously never made it to this little tented village of taste testing.

If you love your nature photography or are looking to keep the kids out of the arcades, look here. Some of the world’s greatest wildlife pictures are on display, outside, a stone’s throw from the beach.
