Brighton Pride 2009

I am Nick the Innkeeper – proud owner of The Ambassador. My Pride was mostly as it should be looking after our guests, and being a mini visitor information point – best places to eat, events program – getting all to the Parade on time; wear a hat and take some sun protection lotion: then it rained on the Saturday afternoon.

Anyhow we managed to close up for an hour so the staff and the Innkeeper could see the parade which always makes me proud to live in Brighton and be part of such a diverese and open minded city by the sea, even though a lot of the floats are a bit home made: well done to those that give up loads of their time to make them!

Did not get to the Party in the Park – exhausted!

Had a stroll round St James’s Street Party Saturday night. Bumped into friends and had a glass of wine in The Cherry Tree (an excellent cafe and deli) with Mike who owns Cardome (great hand made and exclusive to his shop cards – I know an American who buys a years supply for friends and family every visit). Exausted again and to bed after checking in on our night team Don and Eugene to see they were OK and the bar stocked up.

Sunday: the sun shined! Late breakfast service till noon with pastries and coffe in the bar for the real late party goers. Then Jazz in the Square (outside The Ambassador) – an event I have organised each Pride Sunday afternoon for the past 4 years. We had an electricity supply hick up to so started late but once sorted over 2000 people enjoyed some great Jazz from funk fusion to Bossa Nova.Checked in on the guys on duty and customers at The Ambassador and off home for supper with friends.

That was my Pride in Brighton for 2009. From talking to our guests I know they each had a diverse and great times as did Aurora and Tim our blog editors who will write below about their Pride Weekend – which hopefully together with posts from our guests and or visitors to this site will tell a much more informative story for future visitors.

Over to you..

Hi everyone, I just wanted to thank all the staff at the Ambassador hotel, for making our stay so enjoyable, they were all so very freindly and helpful, espcially Lawrence.
Despite the weather we had a fab pride.
Thank you, we will be back (:

Hi Shenay, Thank you for your kind comments – everyone really enjoyed having you as a guest and Laurence is especially made up at being the first person on our blog singled out for praise!
