If you are looking to book hotel rooms in Brighton for the end of this month, get ready for a treat.
You might have heard that Brighton is a gay-friendly town? Well, starting on the 21st July is Pride 2010. So be ready for perhaps the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi- and transgender) community’s biggest, boldest, and at times, brashest party of the year.
It’s Pride 2010: A chance for everyone who takes part to celebrate the freedom to express themselves, as themselves.
If you have any scruples, we suggest leaving them at home. Look past the lycra-clad and thong-strapped Adonis’s (they will be there) and take in the atmosphere; this is a celebration for the whole city. And it’s as much a regular date on the straight calendar as it is on those of LGBT residents.
Why, you may ask? Well, it’s because Pride is such a good party; it reminds us that Brighton is special and that everyone can be themselves, everyday – not just on one weekend.
Yes it is indulgent, extravagant, and a little over the top. But come on, what do you expect?
The party starts on Wednesday 21st with Pride’s Got Talent 2010, a talent show with the night’s winner taking centre stage at Pride’s finale event.
And from here it’s all go! There’s work from 100 artists, curated just for the event; Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus’ annual Pride concert; showtown with Sandra at Charles Street Bar, and on Saturday 7th it’s the main park event in Preston Park.
There are more details about Pride 2010 on our sister blog, although if you are not sure really what to expect, just ask a resident: They will tell you that it’s a party not to be missed!Share on Facebook
