As the name suggests: a delightful small restaurant mostly patronised by locals including us often! Pasta with a profusion of sauces; meat and fish dishes all cooked in traditional regional styles. Fantastic Pizza's are made on the premises in the only traditional wood burning oven in Brighton. Inexpensive – 2 course for around £15. Friendly and unhurried even when we are still chatting long after we have eaten.

Walk: turn right out of the Ambassador to the top of New Steine, turn left on to St James' Street. Walk on the left for about 5 minutes until you come to Madeira Place. Turn into Madeira Place and cross the road, La Capannian will be facing you.
