Brighton is ideal for cycling. Cycling in Brighton is quick, easy and enjoyable.

Brighton’s coastal routes take you towards the Marina and the stunning cliff paths of Saltdean and Peacehaven & beyond.

Try the Coastal Cycle Route from Shoreham to Rottingdean for a fairly easy, flat, 9-mile cycle or the Seafront to the Downs Route for a combination of coast & countryside.

Outside the city, the bridleways and byways on the South Downs are very popular with cyclists of all abilities & there are many trails available. The 160km South Downs Way is also the only UK National Trail fully accessible to riders.

The National Cycle Network is also a safe, high-quality network of quiet lanes and traffic-free paths. The network includes a route from Rottingdean to Shoreham Port.

Hiking

Brighton is a great spot for walkers with a range of city centre routes as well as easy access to hundreds of walks & trails in the wider area of Sussex.

Car

If you’re visiting Brighton, use our information about transport and car parking to help navigate your way around the city.

By far the easiest places to leave your car are the car parks located near the shopping centres and hotels in Brighton. There are car parks in Churchill Square, in the North Laines and at various other main tourist attractions around the city.

On-street parking is available in some areas around town, but you better be quick if you want a space! Madeira Drive and Marine Drive along the seafront have plenty of parking spaces and are close to the main areas of the town.
