The Sussex Breakfast at the Ambassador Hotel
Nothing says "I'm on holiday, I have time" better than a cooked breakfast; imagine how much nicer it tastes knowing you're eating the finest local produce.
The Sussex Breakfast is delicious, local and seasonal. Sausages and bacon come from pigs reared outdoors or in open straw barns and eggs from free range chickens. Milk, Butter and Cheese come from local small dairies, apple juice and seasonal fruit from local orchards. There are tasty homemade jams, mustards and marmalades – not forgetting halloumi cheese, museli, potato and smoked salmon alternatives to meat.
These are quality ingredients sourced direct from Sussex producers.
Caring animal husbandry and respect for the Sussex landscape and wildlife is a part of the ethos for serving a Sussex breakfast. Traditionally reared, grass-fed cows, pigs and chickens produce milk, meat and eggs rich in Omega-3s, the essential fatty acids we all require. And a Sussex breakfast means shorter supply chains and reduced food miles. Most of the food has not travelled outside of Sussex.

Fresh Juice: try our Ringden Farm Sussex Apple Juice with a sweet sharp taste guaranteed to wake you - other traditional fruit juices also available.
Cereals- with hot or cold Downs View Farm, delicious Milk
Fresh Fruit: locally grown when available in season including: Cherries, Strawberries, Apples and Pears.
Thick creamy Yogurt from Downs View Dairy Farm; try it with honey or fresh fruit.
Sussex Pork Grill:
Bacon Thickly Cut and Grilled. Sussex, Free range and Dry Cured (with a mix of saltpetre and brown cane sugar - nothing else).Taste the difference!
Sausage: made from Sussex Free range Pork, 80% meat with no added flavouring - slowly grilled.
Served with Free Range Eggs, Grilled Vine Tomato drizzled with Sussex Gold cold pressed rape seed oil and basil to bring out the flavour and Mushrooms.
Cold Ham and Cheese:
Sussex Free range Dry Cured Gammon. Cooked by us with a few cloves and bay leaf. Served cold and thickly sliced to order.

Fresh Sussex Vine Tomato
Smoked Salmon & Scrabled Eggs:
Sussex Smoked Salmon from our local smoker Springs of Edburton just outside Brighton on the downs; a short run out of town, visitors are welcome and there is a great pub nearby to have lunch in and enjoy other smoked fish from Springs.
Vegetarian Cooked breakfast choice:
Vegetarian Sausages, Grilled Vine Tomatoes sprinkled with a little Sussex Gold cold pressed rape seed oil and basil, Mushrooms, Baked Beans, Grilled slice of Halumi Cheese, Fried Potatoes & Eggs.
NEW Vegan Cooked breakfast menu choice:
Courgette Rasher - crispy fried in a light Tempura Batter, Tofu Scramble with red pepper pesto, Grilled Vine Tomatoes sprinkled with a little Sussex Gold cold pressed rape seed oil and basil, Fried Potatoes, Mushrooms and Baked Beans.
Eggs:
Free range Eggs - Fried in Sussex Gold cold pressed Rape Seed Oil, Poached, Scrambled with butter & milk, Boiled or in an Omelet (with filling of your choice).
To Finish if you still have room?
Hot Toast (Brighton Baked Bread), Butter and Hand Made in open pans Marmalade or Sussex fruit Jam.
We serve Fair Trade Organic Tea & Coffee made from fresh ground beans. Hot Chocolate also available.
